I'm beyond pissed. The reply to Seabloke from the authority overseeing the school is beyond atrocious. I am taking this to the highest authority. As an ex-civil servant, I know a clinical response when I see one. This has got to be the most insincere DRAFT that I've come across. In fact, I am sure that the reply was written by the principal herself, and terribly vetted by the person endorsing it.
The reply was sent out via the person's GMAIL ACCOUNT. An official reply's supposed to come from the office email, or in the form of a proper letter that comes with the agency's letterhead!
Seabloke is a responsible mother. She used to inspect the places that Gremlins were supposed to be taken to on outings. Just prior to Gremlin's fall, she had asked for the exact location of another outing that they were supposed to attend, and no teachers would give it to her. When she subsequently found out where it was, and went there personally, the teachers showed their displeasure. It is clear to me now why they were not pleased at all to see Seabloke there. Who likes to be caught NOT doing their job??
The ridiculously laughable and OFFENSIVE (offensive coz facts were twisted - Gremlin's cut needed stitches and she was DRIPPING BLOOD for an hour! What person with a heart would call that a MINOR cut???) reply (Gremlin's name replaced with "X" to protect her identity):
We thank you for your email of December 2nd 2009 and regret that your daughter X had suffered a cut on her lower chin on the 26th of November, 2009, on the second day, during the school's outing at the Kallang Ice World skating rink. We are relieved however to learn from you that she is much better, although she is still feeling some discomfort from her cut.
At your request, we would like to share with you some information which we have obtained from the Kindergarten staff.
The incident happened during the self practice period after formal training by the coach. There were six teachers present. Three were in the rink at the time of the incident inside the rink and three outside tending to children wishing to rest. None of the teachers saw X fall; they however were immediately aware of her injury when she exit the rink helped by some of her classmates as they went towards the teachers outside the rink. Ms Ho (X's class teacher) who also happened to be there, immediately attended to her by cleaning her cut which also included applying some antiseptic cream from the kindergarten's first aid box.
We understood that Ms Ho had contacted you immediately and that you said that your were going immediately to the ice rink. A staff from the ice rink also inspected X's injury and had opined that it was a minor cut. As you were on the way, X seemed to be in quite a stable condition and the bleeding had stopped, the teachers had decided to wait for your arrival to see if you still wanted to bring X to the clinic or to take her home with you.
We are satisfied that that the teachers, in particular Ms Ho was attending to X and had her in their sight all the time after her fall. Ms Ho was only a few meters away when you arrived.
We, at the Kindergarten's management appreciate the importance of safety and care for the children and would like to assure you that this is a top priority in the Kindergarten. Inspite of the best precautions taken accidents do happen and when they do occur we will thoroughly investigate and review if there was more that we could have done.
You had mentioned that X is still suffering from some discomfort and may need medical attention. Please do contact Ms Angeline Wong, the Kindergarten's principal or myself and we will arrange with you for our Kindergarten's doctor to attend to her.
We thank you once again for bring this to our attention and we offer again our regrets for this unfortunate accident.
