Sierra! & Brooks!

I'm proud of myself.

I installed the new version of Sierra (the last time I used it was like a year ago??), paid for the service, set it up to connect to my broker's data feed, played with the setting and learned how to use it all in 60 minutes.

Greatest achievement in 2009.

D has officially outlived his usefulness.

MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Thanks, Solfest, for telling me about Sierra last year :-)

And thanks, Leon, for convincing me to give Sierra another shot. I just didn't know how to use it the last time (ok, I didn't make an effort to, coz I had resigned to the fact that computers were just not my department) and was too proud to ask D.

I have to say, I really like Sierra :-)

Oh, my precious book arrived. So I'll be hibernating with Brooks for a while.

I'm happy!!!

I was under the impression that Sierra sucked as charting platform. Post a review of it after you've used it for a bit.

Also, please keep us posted on Al Brooks' book! Looks really good from what I can tell but I already have a stack of books that need to be read so am holding off on ordering it.

Oh and no offense to Sierra Charting; I looked at it a while back and just wasn't too thrilled. Maybe it's better now :D

Congrats on your very impressive accomplishment of installing sierrachat. And like Sloan in the movie Wanted said, welcome to the fraternity. If you have any question please don't hesitate to ask. Time and sale, bid vs ask studies are just a click away.

I got to say Sierra was too complicated for me to use. I don't know why, but every platform I've tried was a breeze except for sierra. Maybe because I like to tinker with everything, but couldn't figure sierra out, especially for its replay, and gave up too early. I'm very happy with ninja, so I'm glad I'm done with the platform/charting quest.

>especially for its replay

yea I was very frustrated in trying the replay feature until I realized that I had to scroll the chart back to the point I wanted to replay *first* before clicking the replay button. Sometimes we tend to make things much more complicated than they need to be. :)

Hey Jules!

How's the book so far? I'm bouncing back and forth from this chapter to that chapter. I really like his "Trading Guidelines" section. #1."Everything you see is in a gray fog." Lots of trading wisdom within this section.

Why the switch to Sierra btw?

I was a little bored and made some changes to my blog. The most obvious was the name and link to it.

EP & Ed,
I'm ok with Sierra so far. Not complicated for me coz I don't use anything else other than the drawing tools LOL! The most complicated thing I've used is the "replay" feature, which I didn't even have to figure out myself thanks to Cory! LOL!

EP,
yup, I'll do a review on both...but that could take a while. I've been spending most of my waking moments just going over historical charts! LOL!

Daytrader,

All I can say is that Brooks is addictive. I keep going back to preface and chapter 1 and then back to the bit about his background and profile, and haven't actually gone to the meat yet. :-)

Yes, he's very wise. And I really like it that he freely admits to being compulsive, controlling, closed-minded, untrusting, and stubborn. Coz I'm all of that, and much more. He belongs to the group that the trading gods would label as "people who shouldn't trade". But he can trade, so that's really comforting for me. LOL!
